Patient Follow-Up of Tests and Results
Clinically significant results are those that, if not followed up in a timely manner could have serious implications for a patient’s health.
OUR PRATICE WILL:
- If we receive a clinically significant result we will contact, you through SMS. If this option is not available to you our staff will phone, you.
- If you do not respond to this SMS. Three phone attempts will be made.
- This will be so you can make an appointment with your doctor to discuss the results.
- Telehealth with consent may be offered if deemed appropriate.
- If phone contact is not successful contact may be escalated to the actions below.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Keep your contact details up to date
- If you receive a message from us requesting that you make a follow up appointment it is important to do so as soon as possible.
URGENT RESULTS:
If we are unable to contact, you about an urgent result we may need to get in touch with your emergency contact or next of kin. If necessary, a police welfare check may be requested.
